This residence is an old barn, long abandoned in its meadow, lost amidst the grasslands. Although standing out of sight of onlookers, it is not isolated as there are discreet neighbours. The land looks down on the valley which unfolds below the walls of the residence. Completely enclosed by quickset hedges, its landscaped parklands blend into the surrounding countryside.
An alleyway leads from the rural lane across the lawns prior to reaching the entrance to the house, enhanced by a wide, well-exposed terrace and concealed by a copse.
The houseAlthough its east facade has been widened, this residence still has the rectangular layout of the old barns.
Its walls are made of half-timbering, spanning two levels, under a slate gable roof.
Found in a state of ruin, it has been completely restored and is no longer in need of any works.
The entrance hall leads to a living room set out around its fireplace, a fitted kitchen with an eating area, a bedroom with its bathroom and toilet as well as a separate guest toilet which is under the stairway. Old features, including terracotta floor tiles, panelling and a fireplace, have been given a new lease on life in these now extremely comfortable rooms.
The walls reflect gentle hues and the ceilings, with exposed beams, evoke the natural setting, a theme on which all the decoration was based.
Once a hayloft, the upstairs has been completely reorganised. The stairway leading upstairs is extended by a central landing which provides access to two bedrooms, each with a bathroom and toilet. The wall coverings, the unified floor and the white ceilings on this level, steeped in light, create a cosy atmosphere. The master bedroom has a dressing room adjoining the bathroom. Cleverly designed, discreet cupboards have been installed in miscellaneous nooks and crannies, notably on the landing. The size of the bathrooms is magnified and enhanced by large wall mirrors. The outbuildingThis half-timbered building, spanning approx. 17 m² under a natural slate roof, was designed and created using old materials to reflect regional architecture. A greenhouse backs on to the gable wall.
